"Rising Shadows" - Bridget Blackwood

Rising Shadows (World in Shadows Book 1)Rising Shadows by Bridget Blackwood
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Title: Rising Shadows
Author: Bridget Blackwood
Series: World in Shadows #1
Publication Date: February 2014
Genre: Paranormal Romance
My Rating: **2 Stars**

My Review:

I can really see why people would be hooked by this story and the way the author portrays the characters. For me personally, it was all together too much and not enough all at the same time.

I just felt like I wanted more world building and a deeper background to the characters so i could really get behind them and what they were going through. I wanted to know more of what was going on and I felt like the story lacked any real depth.

Wait, maybe depth isn't the right word.... but I just know that I was given a tiny taste of greatness and I needed to know more. It was completely frustrating and put most of the book into a bad light for me.

My other problem was that there was too much going on too quickly. The kindle version of the book is a little over 100 pages and we were slammed with almost six different point of views with uneven narration and the flipping back and forth of perspectives gave me whiplash. It was just so much trying to happen all at once.

So, yeah...

Basically, a fantastic and intriguing idea with not enough detail and a rushed multi-person perspective... Kind of like this run on sentence.

"Bloodmark" - Aurora Whittet

Bloodmark (Bloodmark Saga, #1)Bloodmark by Aurora Whittet
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Title: Bloodmark
Author: Aurora Whittet
Series: Bloodmark Saga #1
Publication Date: October 2013
Genre: Young Adult/Paranormal/Romance
My Rating : *** 3 Stars***

My Review:

First let me say, I kindly received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

This book was a solid 3 Star read in my opinion. It has the absolute potential to be a magnificent series while at times I felt like I was banging my head against a steel door. But honestly, I think that's what made me all the more intrigued.

The actual plot and story are very intriguing and left me wanting more. When I finish a book and I feel like I need to know how things are going to play out, I consider that a successful start to a series. *ahem* Excuse me, a saga. Which by the way, I love the fact that its called a saga because it just sets the tone for epicness.

The characters were interesting but this here is where I really felt my head banging against that steel door. The main character was absolutely mind blowingly immature. I get it, I do. Shes just sixteen and super sheltered, but my god, she got to be so annoying at times. Of course, enter in stage left; bad boy Grey. While he has all the makings and trimmings to to that bad boy bookshelf boyfriend, I found myself just completely hating him. He was just so... so typically werewolf romance bad boy. And I kept huffing and sighing whenever he did something, so much, in fact that my husband asked if I was having an asthma attack. (I feel I should point out that I do not have nor have I ever had an asthma attack - but, whatever).

Still, with all that, I feel compelled to see where this story is going. Like I said, I just feel like it must be something epic. I sincerely hope it lives up to my standards.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Title: Demons in Disguise
Author: A&E Kirk
Series: Divinicus Nex Chronicles #3
Publication Date: December 2015
Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy/Young Adult
My Rating: 4 Stars
My Review:

Okay. Here it is. The review of the book that I have been waiting to read all year. I just could not, could not find it in my entire being to give this book five stars all because of one reason....

...... Where the HECK did my Hex boys go? Its like, they were background noise in this book. It was utterly depressing.... But....

But....

Hello Cristiano.... Please come seduce me any day of the week Mr. Seduction Guru. I mean, wowzers! I think I need a fire hose to put the flames out. Fer realz. Goodbye Ayden. I'm sorry, you lose. At least in my perfect world you do. Let's face it though, we all know he is the Nex's Bellator and my, what a fine Bellator he is.

*Sigh*

Moving on... The Kirk's of course deliver another spectacular installment in one of my very favorite series. My biggest complaint is that they don't write the books fast enough for me! I need them now. All of them.

The writing is of course filled with witty humor and an insane amount of non-stop plot twist after plot twist. I loved every minute of it and I cant wait to reread it just so I can enjoy it all again!

My Review:

Holy cheese and crackers! Just when I thought that I couldn't like a book even more than I already did, the Kirk's go and blow the top of my head off. This is by far one of the most amusing and amazing series I've read in this genre.

The Kirk's can do no wrong in my eyes when it comes to the Hex boys and a spunk-tastic, spaz-tastic strong female lead. I mean, seriously, who doesnt love a damsel who can save herself with her own epic-ness of humor, sarcasm and holy-crap-I-can't-believe-that-worked-explody-power-thing!

This is truly a laugh out loud, kicking butt and taking names, one of a kind paranormal fantasy. Its epic people. Absolutely epic.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Its that certain time of year where we all remember what it means to be truly alive and grateful. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all a very merry holiday and a fantastic new year. I also promise, and I mean 'cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die-promise' that I will actually be posting my reviews more frequently. Being the time of year where every thing is always so crazy and so filled with family, fun and love; I have most definitely neglected my reviews. Fear not! i have at least 17 books waiting on my read to review shelf and I will be finishing up my re-read of A&E Kirk's Divinicus Nex series in anticipation of the third book's release later this month. i am more than likely only going to have enough time to finish off my year with that series. But I'm looking forward to where my reading and reviewing adventures take me in 2016!!

"Demons at Deadnight" - A&E Kirk

Demons at Deadnight (Divinicus Nex Chronicles, #1)Demons at Deadnight by A&E Kirk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Title : Demons At Deadnight
Series: Divinicus Nex Chronicles #1
Author : A&E Kirk
Publication Date : January 2012
Genre: Young Adult/Paranormal

My Rating: 5 Stars

My Review:
This is the second time I have read Demons at Deadnight and honestly, its only gotten better. Like an true book nerd, with the approach of the third book (finally!!!!) about to be released, I needed to make sure that I was completely and 100% knowledgeable about all things Aurora and those hexy knights.

I swear, this book will make you laugh out loud with the witty sarcasm and you'll definitely want to strangle the characters and hug them at the same time. There isnt another book out there that even comes close to producing what the Kirk's have done here. This book is a freaking comet shooting through the sky with a bunch of dull back lit stars. I've even entertained the idea of using 'gifs' to explain my absolute love and cult like worship of this book but alas, I've restrained myself... barely...

To top it all off, I've even managed to coin one of the Kirk's sayings. Everyone thinks I'm so witty when I say "I've got grace management issues". Even my boss has started to look at me more fondly and with appreciated humor after he filled out his 6th incident report in just as many weeks.

Truth be told, I'm hopelessly and enthusiastically down right addicted to this series and the phenomenal writing, characters and of course 'smokin' hex boys.

"All In" - Jennifer Lynn Barnes

All In (The Naturals, #3)All In by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Title : All In
Author : Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Publication Date : November 2015
Genre: Young Adult/Paranormal/Mystery/Thriller

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

My Review:

Very rarely have I ever read a book that was just completely average until the very last five pages. And in those five pages, the entire book blows my mind. Like, totally-dumbfounded-top-of-my-head-blown-off-mouth-left-hanging-wide-open. I mean, I can't even think of five times that this has even happened to me while reading a book, but here we are.

Barnes delivers a sucker punch to the gut third installment in her The Naturals series. Like most, if not all, of her novels, the characters are written well and have extreme depth and dimension. The actual plot is pretty good as well, although it follows the same type of occurrences as the first two books, but that's to be expected of a crime solving group of teens. It's really the ending that's going to get you. I'm serious.

I'm so stuck on how freaking jaw dropping amazing the ending was, that not much else compares or competes throughout the entire book. I'm extremely excited to see where this takes us in the next book in this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Title: Snow Like Ashes
Author: Sara Raasch
Publication Date: October 2014
Genre : Fanasty

My Rating: 5 Stars

My Review:

After finishing the last page of this book, I was left with one coherent thought : What is wrong with me?

Why did I ask myself that? Because, I just don't know why it took me this freaking long to pick up this book. I'm serious here people. I'm baffled. I have no idea why I haven't devoured this book sooner, but, now that I have, consider me hooked.

This story... My god, this story! I'm left speechless trying to sing its praises. I just don't know how to quite put into words just how amazing this book is.

It's phenomenal. Epic. The reason that the fanasty genre exists. Mind blowingly fantastic.

That is how I would describe this book. Not even for a second will you find yourself trudging through this book trying to get past a certain part. Instead, you will find yourself captivated with each chapter, paragraph, sentence, word.

This is the absolute best example of the fanasty genre and the author is, by far, a stunning example to her peers.

Grab this book, clear your schedule, and hold onto your seats as you drive into this richly woven tale of magic, adventure, love and above all, fighting for something greater than yourself.

I need more of Ash and Piper in my life. They are such a freaking amazing duo and honestly, the best romantic kick butt paranormal team that I've read about.

Genre: Fanasty

My Rating: 2 Stars

My Review:

I was very graciously given a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review.

I loved the idea of this book. I loved the characters (mostly). I even loved the plot
What I could not absolutely stand was the actual writing. This book became an enormous headache for me to read due to the authors writing.

I feel compelled to further explain. So I'll try. One second, the writing was so in sync with everything... I mean, everything was flowing along so flawlessly and this book was making me think I just found my next epic fanasty read. Then, BAM.... the writing became riddled with archaic sentences and twisted with riddles. I seriously felt like a completely different author wrote it from that point on.

It was completely ruined for me.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Title: Moonbreeze
Author: Adrienne Woods
Publication Date: November 2015
Genre: New Adult/Fanasty

My Rating: 5 Stars

My Review:

This is the fourth installment of this series and it happens to be one of my favorite series by one of my must read authors.

It's a grand slam of a book. It's absolutely everything I've come to expect from Ms. Woods and so much more. I, for one, was absolutely thrilled with how this book crossed over from the young adult genre into new adult and dark fanasty. Woods executed this crossover with such finesse and it spoke volumes to her stunning ability as an author.

The characters are so gritty and raw in this book compared to her other ones and I finally feel as of Elena had morphed into something that I can only describe as a freaking beautifully damaged and strong hurricane of a character.

The storyline in this book is what we've all been waiting for. Dark, beautiful and riddled with action, adventure, and even more heart breaking scenes.

I'm absolutely floored with how breathtaking and soul wrenching this book was for me. I can barely contain my excitement for the next and last installment on this series.

Bravo, Ms. Woods, bravo!

Genre: Young Adult/Fanasty/Mythology

My Rating: 4 Stars

I was so very lucky to be given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

The book gods have looked down upon me and seen the horrible strife I've been muddling through with one awful young adult/fanasty book after another. Yes, they looked down upon me and decided to spare me. The delivered unto me a shining jem called "Hope's Decree".

If you can't tell by the overly dramatic rendition of the above paragraph, I found this book to be beyond stellar. Seriously, the cover and the description just do not do this book any justice. Actually, if I had just seen the cover and read the description on my own time and I had not been given a copy of this book, I actually don't think I would have read it. Thank goodness fate intervened and a copy of this book fell into my lap!

I'm sure all my fellow readers are aware that this genre is quickly becoming worn out with awful, unoriginal stories that make you cringe while reading them; so to find a fresh, original book like this, is a rare occasion indeed.

The author writes a fantastically creative and captivating storyline. I was thoroughly impressed with how she took the 'Pandora's Box' theme and somehow made it completely new and intriguing. Seriously, hands down, this has got to be one of my favorite spins on old school mythology.

The characters are so freaking intense and they play off of each other magnificently. Both Morpheus and Blain have a starring slot on my 'bookshelf boyfriends' shelf. Although, is it so wrong that I really wanted Morpheus to be the 'one'? I think I just like to be contradictory, honestly. Anyways, they are both amazing, you feel me, love? ;)

The only reason that this book rated at 4 Stars instead of 5 Stars was actually due to the back and forth complete indecision of Trinity and Blaine's romantic(or perhaps not so romantic) relationship. It was almost like watching a ping pong tournament on crack. I think I got whiplash trying to keep up with them.

All in all, this was a very fun and exciting read and I can't wait to see what else I can discover from this author.

Tainted Energy (The Energy Series, #1)Tainted Energy by Lynn Vroman

Author: Lynn Vroman

Genre: Young Adult/ Fanasty

I very graciously received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to divide this review into two parts:
1) What I really liked
2) What I found unappealing

The reason for this is because all in all, this book just wasn't my cup of tea and I don't want to turn off other readers who might really enjoy this book just because it wasn't for me. Let's begin.

First of all, is that cover just not amazing? I mean seriously, it's absolutely enthralling and makes you really want to just buy the book so you can display it on your bookshelf. Yes, I'm a cover whore. So sue me.

The actual idea for this story is very unique and not quite like anything I've ever come across before and that have the author huge points in my mind. I've been going through a dark fanasty phase so the more sinister aspects of this book completely drew me in and had me intrigued. Honestly, the very best part of this book was from the 65% mark until the 90% mark.

If definitely recommend this book to young adults who enjoy different worlds and fanasty stories with conspiracies.

Now, the main reason that this book just want for me was the way the author wrote it. For me, the execution of the storyline and the world building and even the characters relationships gave me whiplash trying to follow it. It was pretty confusing for me and honestly, downright annoying with how back and forth everything was.... Especially character interactions. It just wasn't something I found intriguing like some of these other reviewers but rather a bit like being the passenger in a student driver's car. Stop, go, stop, wait wait, go, stop. That pretty much sums it up.

My only other real issue was that I was pretty bored with the first half of the book. It doesn't just a little bit too much time on the 'young adult this is my angst filled life' and not on really explaining the different worlds and story building.

So all in all, I guess it boils down to a great idea with not enough push behind it's execution.

I was very kindly given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

The author created an intriguing world that held promises of colorful characters and an epic story. Unfortunately, those promises quickly dried up into a mountainous heap of long winded boredom.

It was with extreme effort that I continued to read and finish this story. Honestly, I had extremely high expectations and I was severely disappointed in this stories 'lack of'. The entire story felt so stuck. The development of the plot was minimal and at times, I became downright confused thinking I had somehow missed a page. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how all of a sudden we were at a certain point in the book.

My rating of this book greatly reflects on the fact that I absolutely hated the characters. They were unoriginal at best, and at thier worst, they were cookie cutter shadows of the traditional roles that typically make up a high fanasty novel. You know what I mean. It's a typical cast of characters wearing the hats of the vengeful one, the struggling ruler, the evil one, the one on a doomed misguided mission, the lover, the piner, so on and so forth. Oh... And on a personal side note, what the heck was up with those names? Seriously? I get trying to be unique but at the same time, maybe if that much thought had gone into the actual story rather than character names, I would have enjoyed the book.

All in all, this one was just less than thrilling for me and missed it's mark.

I was graciously gifted with a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

This book broke my heart and tore me down to the very bottom of my soul. It was a haunting emotional force of nature.

It hurt to read this book. It hurt to feel the way I felt while I read this book. It was emotionally scarring to live through Lily's pain and it was positively the most beautifully broken chaotic wreckage of a novel that I've ever read.

The author did a fantastic job writing something so dark and something that is still so often pushed to the corners and hidden in the shadows.

Domestic violence is one of the hardest issues for most people to grasp and understand and the author put a blinding spotlight on its very real and very dark and desperate truth.

It can happen to any of us. We could be your neighbors. Your friends. Your coworkers. Your boss. Your daughter. Your sister. We could be anyone. We could be Lily.

This book is a sucker punch to the chest. It will capture you and draw you in until you feel as of you are drowning, and the only way to save yourself is to keep reading.

I honestly just didn't find this book speaking. I was completely drawn in by the description and I unfortunately found myself immediately bored with it.

While I definitely believe that many other people will enjoy this book, it most definitely wasn't for me, hence the middle of the road rating.

However, if your are like me, and have read books from author Jodi Picoult and desire a more mature writing style, then this book definitely isn't for you. It definitely had all the makings of 'a page turning, holy crap where did that twist come from and I can't believe that just happened!' novel.... Except that it just didn't live up to its potential. And yes, the clear downfall was the actual writing. It left me wanting, and not in a good way.

I believe that a younger crowd of readers would find this book engaging and chilling, but it just wasn't happening for me.

I feel so guilty for absolutely loving this book. It's so completely twisted, dark and downright terrifyingly seductive.

This book is not for the faint of heart. It even days dark erotica on the cover, but of my, trust me when I say that that doesn't even begin to cover it.

This is a deliciously maddening dark delight that will leave your cheeks burning and your mind reeling.

I just can't get the right words out to describe this one.

It's a sinfully dark book that will definitely twist you up inside and leave you breathless for more.

This Review is actual for all three books in the Beastly series.

Ratings:
Book One : 5 Stars
Book Two : 4 Stars
Book Three : 5 Stars

Overall Rating : 4.6 Stars

Reader Beware!!!!

This is most definitely not your typical beauty and the beast tale. You will not find any hints of Disney's romanticized happily ever after in these books.

This is a much darker tale of magic and horror all rolled into one phenomenal retelling of 'a tale as old as time' and I absolutely freaking loved it. I lived and breathed this series. I consumed these books like a dying man gasps for air.

This series is dark and twisted and horribly devastating. And let's not forget the raw romance and the primal nature of the sexuality rubbing rampant in this series. This series took our most primal instincts and urges and showed how we rise above them. It really shows what separates man from beast.

If you're looking to fulfill your craving for a darkly reinvented twisted fairytale, look no further!

This book was the absolute perfect blend of paranormal fanasty and steamy romance. It has just the right amounts of magic, darkness and heat to make it a winning trifecta.

The author really made this novel stand out against the crowd of all these junk paranormal romances that are flooding this genre. It wasn't just a skeevy porno with paranormal characters - She made sure to actually have an intense storyline with interesting characters and a sparks flying romance added in.

I'd recommend this book to almost anyone!

Honestly, if I had to describe this book in one sentence it would be this:

Deliciously dark and entertaining!!

This book grabbed me from page one and didn't let go. It lured me in with promises of rebellion, romance, and with hints of a dark and alluring plot.

I was completely captivated by the characters and was impatiently waiting to see what could possibly happen next. I couldn't help but fall in love with all of the strength and weakness of the characters. The author made them raw and speaking all at the same time.

The plot and the actual world building was phenomenal and had me totally engrossed. I couldn't put this book down even when I tried.

What a fantastic read for 2015!

"Kissed By Fire" - Danielle Annett

Kissed by Fire (Blood & Magic #2)Kissed by Fire by Danielle Annett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So, it's official...

... I'm addicted to this series! I most definitely just read the first two books on one sitting. I can't even begin to describe how awesome it was too read them back to back except for the fact that sleep is now a foreign thing to me and who's, I've got so many things to do today... Being an adult sucks sometimes.

Anyways...

This series is just so captivating to me. I love the plot and the characters kick ass. The tension with the romance is building and I'm about to burst. I want, no, I NEED to know what happens next! I was totally thrown through a loop when Declan became the front and center with the mate bond. I definitely did not see that coming.... At all, although I hey this nagging sense that I should have.

Either way, I absolutely love this series and am disappointed that book three isn't out yet....

....Excuse me while I go throw a tantrum in the corner....

Freaking Phenomenal

Freaking. Awesome.

My inner book nerd is doing its happy dance. I loved this book. Do you know the feeling when you finish a book and you are grinning from ear to ear and you have that little bit of shortness of breath from excitement? That's what this book did to me. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm sorry, but we obviously can't be friends.

The author did a fantastic job with making her storyline and ideas shine through with originality; especially in a genre that has been suffering from a lack of creativity. This book has been very aptly described as a dark fantasy and has more than lived up to my expectations. It has, in fact, far exceeded them.

There is plenty of artfully placed conflict, romantic tension, dark motives and manipulation woven throughout the entire book. It left me wanting so much more and I'm practically desperate to keep reading.

Aria is a fantastic kick butt heroine. She's smart, fierce, sassy without being overdone, and an all around fire wielding badass! And thank the book gods... no stupid freaking insta-dumb-love. Thank you Jesus. In fact, while there is a definite romantic tension element, it's not the focus of the book and it only adds to the story instead of blindingly taking over the book.

This book was a definite win for me and if you are anything like me, it's sure to be a win for you too.

I finally feel like I got some closure with this series! It's definitely not the end of the series but everything finally comes to a head in book five and we get some real results!

I honestly love this plot. It's the number one reason that I have read this series. There author does a great job weaving a fun, spunky young adult werewolf book that doesn't fit the mold of every other book out there.

It might seem strange, but I actually like all the "supporting characters" way better than the two main characters, Tessa and Dastien. I think the other characters are what really make this series stand out above others in its genre.

All in all, I'm glad to have gotten a chance to read this book as an advanced reader copy and I'll be sure to keep my eyes out for the next in the series.

"The Pledge" - Kimberly Derting

The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)The Pledge by Kimberly Derting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This one had been on my TBR list forever an all I can say is that I'm extremely disappointed with myself. How could I have not read this book sooner? It's absolutely a stunning start to a sure-to-be epic trilogy.

Derting has shot this one out of the park with her intense world building, dynamic characters and of course, a sinister and rebellious plot. I'm seriously amazed with how Derting comes up with such phenomenal ideas and I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on the next two books.

This book highlights all the things I love about this genre and is a sweeping magical read.

"Speak' - R.M. Webb

SpeakSpeak by R.M. Webb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was really surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. I'll be honest with you, I chose to read this book because I got it for free and the cover caught my 'oh pretty ADD button'.

Sometimes I love that button. Like today, for example, with this book.

The author does a fabulous job with the writing and inner monologue. The writing pecks at your mind while you read it making you want to read more, know more... To attain that higher level of understanding. I absolutely loved that.

The plot is pretty awesome and while this is a genre that has been washed and hung out to dry way too many times, this book maintains its own originality throughout the entire story. This was an awesome breakaway from your typical witches and warlocks and magic, oh my!

I'm excited to see where this author takes this series!

"Goddess" - Julie Anne Lindsey

Goddess (Calypso, #2)Goddess by Julie Anne Lindsey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

My rating is 2.5 stars.

I've come to the conclusion that this series just isn't for me. I went into this book with some high expectations after suffering through most of the first book in despair. By the end of book one, I was actually excited to read this book because of the turn that book one had taken. Unfortunately, I've been left disappointed.

While it's not as if the book is exceptionally bad, it just didn't capture my attention.

My biggest issue is that the actual plot and characters are completely at odds with each other. Let me explain.

The characters. Ugh. Gah. They are just ridiculously immature. They lack real development and there is just to much 'teenager' in them. Their interactions play out just like the 'Twilight' live triangle and its just head-pounding-against-a-wall frustrating. To be quiet frank, they disgusted me.

Now, take the plot. Here we have a bit of a conundrum. The plot has dark edges to it and plenty of intrigue and tantalizing turns. It left me absolutely confused on how these characters actually fit in with the plot. It ruined the entire book for me.

So, I guess my main malfunction with this book was that I could not reconcile immature characters with a mature plot. This book may be best suited for a younger reader who would view this as a young adult read with a dark edginess to it.

For me however, it was an utter disappointment and beyond annoying to read.

"Prophecy" - Julie Anne Lindsey

Prophecy (Calypso, #1)Prophecy by Julie Anne Lindsey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

More like 3.5 Stars, but whatever. Semantics.

Okay friends, just bear with me the best you can during this review. It's most definitely going to be a hot mess.

So, I definitely hated this book... Until I didn't. It was really freaking predictable and boring and had stupid romance crap.... until it didn't. It was so very young young adult... until it wasn't.

Make sense?

No, I didn't think so either. Hence the self titled 'hot mess' review. Let me try to explain.

The writing wasn't anything extra spectacular but it definitely flowed nicely. The plot started off completely unoriginal and had so much stupid young teenage high school angst and was completely repetative. I even remember thinking to myself, 'sweet Jesus, not another freaking Twilight'...

....And then things started to happen...

The plot turned down a darker path and bam! Holy crap, VIKINGS!!!! Like very seriously, my mind was blown out into left field and then plot twist after plot twist kept me out there.

I absolutely could not believe how well this book bounced backed. By the last page, I was without a doubt fanning myself and grinning from ear to ear.

I'm thoroughly excited to start the next book. I just hope it is awesome from page one.

"Shift" - Karina Espinosa

SHIFTSHIFT by Karina Espinosa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I did, in fact, receive a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.....

.... But, I was just so excited to read this one that I went ahead and bought it before I even got my copy from the publisher.

So. Freaking. Worth. It.

Um, holy cow with a triple side serving of 'yes, please'!

This is it people. The series I've been searching for every since I fell in love with the Mercy Thompson series. This book is the very definition of why I love werewolf books.

The characters are fan-freaking-tastic. Mackenzie is a force to be reckoned with and is as strong as she is sassy. I love me some smart-ass, strong as nails female characters and Mackenzie leads the pack ( pun very much intended!). I definitely love the chemistry between all the characters and I'm so intrigued by how they interact. I absolutely can't wait to see what is going to happen next!

The plot is awesome. It is definitely molded from the paranormal genre but has more than enough originality to be a shining star amongst the masses.

This book left me grinning from ear to ear when I was finished it. This is a prime example of why I love my books!

The Witch Hunter (The Witch Hunter, #1)The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, Virginia Boecker, what have you done to me? You've positively ruined the rest of my 2015. How ever shall I continue to read books knowing that I'll forever be comparing them to the absolute epicness of 'The Witch Hunter'?

This book is beyond phenomenal. The characters are rich and diverse with just enough dark to make them irresistible. The plot is thickly woven with magic, adventure, betrayal, love and of course, a true rebellion with a cause.

This book has made it onto my favorites list and Ms. Boecker has quickly climbed to the top of my new favorite authors list.

I'm absolutely thrilled to have discovered her writing and cannot wait to read more from her.
